February Life Round-Up! Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Final Exams, Food and more Food! ♡

Hellooo everyone! ♡ February flew by in the blink of an eye and you might or might not have noticed that I have been super MIA the whole month and didn't post a single blog-post. I think I probably had the busiest and craziest month in February yet so I though it would be nice for me to do a little life update/ recap on all that has happened in the past month or so <3

In late January / the start of February - Chinese New Year happened. Well, I know this is not supposed to be in my February round-up since this was technically in January but Chinese New Year was my starting point of all the craziness that is February (plus it was so fun!) so I had to share my Chinese New Year experience with you :P

I celebrated my 6th Chinese New Year overseas by having a celebratory dinner with all my best friends in London the night before CNY at Yauatcha in Soho :)

The food was great and super satisfying <3 Not as amazing as Chinese food in Hong Kong but this is pretty close to what I get back home! :D

I also love that Yauatcha did special red desserts in celebration of Chinese New Year <3

On the next day - the first day of Chinese New Year, my bestie Melissa and I got off to an early start and had brunch at Flat Iron - a go-to whenever we want steak :P
*Hint hint - go to the Flat Iron on Henrietta Street if you want free salted caramel ice-cream at the end of your meal!* ♡

Chinese New Year OOTD:
Red top - Abercrombie & Fitch
Fur filet - From a store in Hong Kong
Leggings: Lululemon
Boots: Zara
Bag: Chanel

We then had a stroll in Covent Garden :) They just so happened to have put up a Chinese New Year Theme Rooster decor in the middle of the Square and I could not believe the amount of people that wanted to take a picture with the decor hahaha :P I was also extra festive and wore something red :D

After that, we were craving dessert so we headed to BoboJam - an Asian and Western mixed dessert shop that used to be in Chinatown but has since moved to Soho - where I ordered my favourite mango dessert ♡

If you want to get a taste of the festive spirits on Chinese New Year  - you HAVE to go to Chinatown. We passed by Chinatown on our way home and it was packed full! The traditional Dragon Dance was going on right in the middle of the street and everyone was trying to get a picture/ video of it - myself included :P

Fun story: it also started hailing in the middle of nowhere! This did not stop the festive spirits though and we had a lot of fun watching the Dragon Dance and enjoying the crowds :D

Fast forward from CNY to mid-February, I had basically been super busy with the last few weeks of School and with preparing for final law school exams, which were exactly one week away from Valentine's Day. I know Valentine's Day is not a huge deal to a lot of people but Valentine's Day is extra special for the bf and I since our anniversary happens to be on Valentine's Day, and this year, we celebrated our 5 year anniversary <3

Since our actual anniversary/ Valentine's Day was on a Tuesday and we are both super busy during weekdays, we decided to celebrate our special day the weekend before instead :) We booked a table at a French restaurant called Medlar in Chelsea and the food was amazinggg ♡

Duck egg tart with red wine sauce, turnip purée, lardons and sautéed duck heart - this was phenomenal! :O Probably my favourite dish of the whole meal ♡

Crab raviolo with samphire, brown shrimps, fondue of leeks and bisque sauce

Steamed plaice with baby squid, calҫots, nasturtium root, Tokyo turnip and a soy, mirin and ginger sauce

Roast monkfish with spätzle, mussels, shallot velouté and monk’s beard

Pear and frangipane tart with clotted cream and pine nut brittle

Chocolate marquise with cocoa nib ice cream, griottine cherries and hazelnuts

Petit fours

Valentine's Day OOTD:
Dress - ASOS (currently out of stock :( )
Bag - Saint Laurent
Shoes - Nine West

Actual Valentine's Day was far less glamorous than our celebration day haha :P I basically drowned myself in books and notes in preparation for final exams, and decided to order pizza from Dominos - which I ate by myself, alone in my flat haha (still the highlight of my day though!) ♡

And then - after two weeks of non-stop studying and exams, I was officially done with finals and was so thrilled to finally have my life back <3

I basically indulged myself in cakes (these cakes from Cutter & Squidge are the bomb dot com btw - SO GOOD! ♡), and donuts, and bubble tea, plus some brainless read haha <3 Not the healthiest post-exam lifestyle but I think they were well-deserved nonetheless :P

And that is it for my February update! My next post is likely going to be my Iceland travel diary <3 I am also trying to stick to a weekly blogging schedule where I upload every Sunday from now on :) That way I won't be uploading 3 posts in one week and then not uploading anything for say the rest of the month! I hope you have enjoyed this little post and I will see y'all in my next post! ♡
