Monday Motivation: Tips on having the best Monday ever ♡

I did not intend on putting a post up today but I woke up this morning feeling a little overwhelmed and so decided to write this post to get my thoughts and tips out to anyone who might be feeling a little under the weather just like me ♡
Mondays are HARD. The moment I woke up, my mind was immediately filled with thoughts about things I need to get done for the day and how little time I have to fit in so much. For instance, I have an essay due this afternoon, have a class to prep for tomorrow, and yet have a ton of errands to run (definitely not good timing for my online banking account to get blocked and for the bank to be opened only until 4p.m.) ♡ No matter what you are going through and how much you think you have to deal with, know that you WILL get through it, and here are some tips I have for having an amazing Monday regardless of how you are feeling :)

Tip 1 ♡ How much sleep did you get?
It is one thing to have only 5 hours of sleep on a Friday night, and another thing to have 5 hours of sleep on a Sunday night when you are going to have a packed full, stressful Monday the next day. I am so thankful that I managed to sleep early last night and got 8 hours of sleep in. I know that with enough sleep, I will be able to motivate myself more and actually have the energy to face whatever tasks I have on Monday!

Tip 2 ♡ Write down and organise your thoughts when you wake up
The thing I am so glad I did when I was feeling overwhelmed this morning was to write down all the things I need to get done on my iPhone. When I wake up, I tend to get a million little thoughts popping up in my brain that immediately stresses me out because my thoughts are so unorganised and they always make it seems like I have more to get done than I actually do. Writing down everything and making a timetable/ checklist for the day is so useful. I listed out everything which I need to do, made a timetable so I have a time slot for each item to be completed, and I immediately feel a whole lot better about my day knowing that if I stick to my timetable, I will eventually get everything completed ♡

Tip 3 ♡ Breakfast breakfast BREAKFAST! ♡
Back to the topic of having enough energy to tackle the day, I never really skip breakfast anymore unless I wake up super late. The first thing I do in the morning after brushing my teeth and cleansing my face is make breakfast. I like having my breakfast before I get dressed and before getting my makeup done because having some breakfast makes me feel so much more energised and allows me to move a lot faster than if I had nothing at all in the morning. I did a post on my everyday morning smoothie a year ago and I still have a smoothie/ juice as my breakfast on most days! ♡ I will definitely do a post on my updated breakfast recipes soon but having breakfast is definitely key to starting Monday off right :)

Tip 4 ♡ One step at a time
In your timetable/ to-do list, there might be tasks which are easier to get done, and tasks which are more difficult to get done. It really helps to not just focus on the getting the difficult tasks completed, but to applaud yourself for getting the easier tasks done as well. Doing things one step at a time makes your day a lot easier and will motivate you as you check things off one by one :) For example, after having breakfast this morning, I cleared up the dishes and also organised and packaged all the ASOS clothing I needed to return so that they are all ready to be sent off at the post office. These are not huge tasks that require a whole lot of effort, but getting small things like these done one by one means you are actually getting things off your list!

Tip 5 ♡ Stick to your timetable/ To-do list
I know that sticking to a timetable could be really hard, but I do try my absolute best to follow my timetable. It is a really useful guide for me to know when I should get things done, and it generally stops me from feeling overwhelmed since I can see clearly how many tasks I have left to be completed :) You might not be able to stick to your timetable 100% completely at the end of the day, but you would at least have gotten some of the things on the timetable/ to-do list done - and that is definitely better than feeling overwhelmed and accomplishing nothing at the end of the day! :)

Tip 6 ♡ Just keep going!
Mondays are really hard, and that is okay. On some Mondays, I wake up feeling super excited and determined to conquer the day, and on other days, I feel unmotivated and overwhelmed like how I am feeling at the moment. One thing that is really important is to remind yourself that you can handle whatever the day or the following week throws at you, and the only thing you need to do in order to succeed is to just keep going! :) By all means, stop and rest if you are absolutely EXHAUSTED, but if you find yourself coming up with little excuses to get unnecessary rests or to lay down on a sofa and not do anything - STOP YOURSELF! ♡ Just keep going, and you will be surprised at what you manage to get done at the end of the day :)

On that note, I am off to conquer the day (hopefully!) - have an amazing Monday everyone! ♡

  1. This post was just what I needed to read! I stupidly went to sleep at 2am last night and have been paying for it today so far when I really need to be getting on with things. Have written some of these tips down though so I can have a more productive day tomorrow :) x

    Always, Alice

    1. So glad you found the post helpful! <3 I am sure you will have a better day tomorrow! xx

  2. Huge to do lists really can be overwhelming, especially on Mondays! I totally agree about getting the easier tasks ticked off - psychologically that helps a lot. x

    1. Yes definitely! :) It's all about the mindset <3

  3. Thanks for the motivation! I'm reading this on Tuesday, but sometimes Tuesdays can be just as difficult! I am with you 100% on making to do lists. I get so overwhelmed with how many tasks I have to writing it all out always makes me feel more sane. Plus you get the satisfaction of checking things off which keeps you motivated! The only thing I would add is making your bed- because if nothing else seems to go well in your day, at least you made your bed!

    1. I'm so glad you found the motivation helpful :D I totally agree - Tuesdays can be gruesome as well! I love the feeling of writing everything down and checking them off one by one :) And I am completely with you on making your bed <3

  4. Nice tips! I find it really hard to relax on a Sunday night when I know I have work the next day and it's a Monday! - blergh! These are really nice healthy ways to relax yourself though! <3
